GEOMAPICS FIELD CHECK
This Privacy Policy explains how GEOMAPICS FIELD CHECK accesses, collects, uses, stores and shares information when you use the application and its related services.
1. Information We May Collect
- Account information: email address, authentication identifiers, user ID and profile information you provide.
- Device and technical information: device model, operating system, language, app version, crash/performance and diagnostic information.
- Location information: approximate and/or precise location, subject to your device permissions.
- Field-work information: GPS tracks, routes, coordinates, pins, polygons, notes, project data, measurement records and related observations you create.
- User-generated content: messages, photos, videos, audio, files, reports, KML/KMZ files and other content you choose to upload, save or share.
- Usage information: interactions with app features and operational events needed to provide and maintain the service.
2. Location Data and Background Location
GEOMAPICS FIELD CHECK may access precise location in the background only when the user explicitly starts a feature that requires continuous location access, such as Live Position Sharing, Walk Route Recording or active field navigation.
When one of these user-initiated features is active, location may continue to be processed while the app is minimized, while another app is in use, or while the screen is locked. This is necessary so that live position can continue to update, traveled route and distance can continue to be recorded, and active field navigation can continue without gaps.
Background location is not intended to operate silently for unrelated purposes. The user starts the relevant feature and can stop it at any time. Device-level location permissions can also be changed at any time in system settings.
Location data may be used to show your position on maps; record GPS walking or field routes; provide field navigation and coordinate tools; attach coordinates to records, pins, photos, reports or project data; enable optional live location sharing with users or teams selected by you; calculate traveled distance; and support active field-safety features that depend on location.
3. Live Location Sharing
Live location sharing is optional and user-controlled. If you enable it, your location may be shared with the people or groups you select, or with the audience you explicitly choose in the app. Sharing does not begin merely because the app is installed. You can stop live sharing at any time.
4. How We Use Information
- to provide and operate app functionality;
- to authenticate users and protect accounts;
- to save and synchronize projects, field records, map work, files, photos and user-selected content;
- to provide navigation, location sharing, route recording, weather, earthquake and field-support features;
- to improve reliability, troubleshoot errors, prevent abuse and maintain security;
- to respond to support requests and comply with applicable law.
5. Third-Party Services
GEOMAPICS FIELD CHECK may use Google Firebase, Firestore, Firebase Authentication, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Google Maps and related Google APIs, plus external data providers used for weather, earthquake, mapping or field information. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. Google's privacy policy is available at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
6. Sharing of Personal Information
We do not sell personal data. Information may be shared only as necessary to provide app functionality, with service providers acting on our behalf, with users you explicitly choose to share content or location with, or when disclosure is required by applicable law or a lawful request from a competent authority.
7. User Content and Visibility
Content you create may remain private, be shared with selected users, or be shared more broadly depending on the sharing option you choose. GEOMAPICS does not make private user content public unless a feature selected by the user is designed to do so.
8. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide requested services, maintain account and project continuity, meet security and legal requirements, or until you delete the relevant content or request account/data deletion, subject to applicable legal retention requirements.
9. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted network transport where supported, authentication, access controls and service-provider security mechanisms. No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.
10. Your Choices and Controls
- You can grant, deny or revoke location permission in your device settings.
- You can stop Live Position Sharing, Walk Route Recording or active navigation from within the app.
- You can choose whether and with whom to share supported content and location information.
- You may request access, correction or deletion of personal information where applicable.
11. Account and Data Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting info@geomapics.com. Where an in-app deletion option is available, you may also use that option. Limited information may be retained where required for legal, fraud-prevention, security or compliance purposes.
12. Children
GEOMAPICS FIELD CHECK is not directed to children under 13. If we become aware that personal information from a child under the applicable minimum age has been collected without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
13. International Processing
Because cloud and service-provider infrastructure may operate internationally, information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where applicable, appropriate legal, contractual and technical safeguards are used.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when app functionality, legal requirements or data practices change. The current effective date will be shown at the top of this page.
